Published by Health Affairs, in February 2022 with support from the American Medical Association, this under-30 minute video is eye-opening. Excellent introduction to the history of systemic racism in the healthcare field, from this author of Medical Apartheid (2007). Geared primarily to healthcare professionals and leaders, but understandable to all. It’s not just about the oft-mentioned Tuskegee study. Don’t let the nervous pen-twirling of the hosts distract you in the beginning. The stories Ms. Washington shares in the video are definitely worth learning about.
