Health Insurance Cost Estimate, 2022 Survey (Mercer)

Mercer’s annual National Survey of Employer-Sponsored Health Plans, estimates that the total health insurance benefit cost increased 3.2% in 2022, to an average of $15,013 per employee. Large employers (500 employees and over) had an average increase of 3.9%, compared to 2.6% for employers with 50 to 499 employees. Overall, employers expected an average of 5.4% increase for 2023. Strategies that businesses plan to use to in their employee health benefits program are detailed. A snapshot is available free. Highlights of the survey were released December 2022.
