A primer prepared by Alliance for Health Reform (4 pages, April 2006) on HSAs (Health Savings Accounts), High Deductible Health Plans, and what people have to say about consumer-directed health plans – both proponents and opponents. Also describes HRAs (Health Reimbursement Arrangements). Issue brief was prepared with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Note, today’s 2019 HSA contribution limit is $3,500 for individuals and $7,000 for family plans. The minimum deductible in a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) is $1,350 single and $2,700 family.
