Read reports of the National Study of Long-Term Care Providers, now renamed National Post-acute and Long-term Care Study (NPALS). Surprising report on residential care residents, a majority of whom need bathing, walking, dressing, and/or transferring assistance. Only 12% did not need assistance with any activities of daily living (ADLs). In addition, 1/3 (34%) have Alzheimer’s or other dementia. (See Brief # 404, September 2021).
