Find statistics on obesity, and prevalence of severe obesity for adults in the United States. Over 42% of US adults aged 20+ are considered obese (BMI of 30 or more) according to the most recent National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Obesity is prevalent in over 46% of men. By race, Asians had only a 17.4% obesity rate. Non-Hispanic black women had an obesity rate of nearly 57%. Obesity is a major risk factor for many diseases. Obesity has been steadily trending upward for the past 16 years, but more sharply in the past 6 years.
