Consumer Health Ratings to Close After 16 Years
Verona, WI, May 20, 2022
After 16 years in operation, Consumer Health Ratings will be closing its website. The founder, Gretchen Dahlen, has retired. “We are grateful for the opportunity to help guide millions of consumers to reliable reports of healthcare quality and cost for more than a decade and a half,” Ms. Dahlen said.
Consumer Health Ratings was founded in 2006 by The Dahlen Company, LLC, a management consulting firm. The online web directory has been provided as a free public service. Both consumers and healthcare professionals used the site to check ratings and cost comparisons among hospitals, nursing homes, doctors, health plans and many other types of health care services. The directory has been cited and referenced by a wide variety of respected organizations, including Harvard Heart Letter, the Los Angeles Times, Forbes magazine, Kiplinger, The Commonwealth Fund and many others.
The website will close in the coming days.
Consumer Health Ratings has been a great passion for Ms. Dahlen. “There are many people who work toward excellence in healthcare and who believe in price transparency. I have been fortunate to be able to support consumers in their quest to get a better healthcare system. I’m sorry this unique resource won’t be available going forward. It has really helped inform consumers and shorten their search time. The decision to close was not an easy one. Every time a patient or caregiver called, I was happy to walk them through a confusing maze of reports,” Ms. Dahlen added.
Consumer Health Ratings, your guide to quality and cost TM provides the most comprehensive listing of organizations that rate or report performance on specific hospitals, health plans, physicians, nursing homes, home health agencies and other health care providers in the United States. The directory includes over 1,200 curated resources. For more information, visit https://ConsumerHealthRatings.com .
