Baltimore Top Doctors 2020 (Maryland)

Baltimore Magazine shows their list of Top Doctors 2020 in the greater Baltimore area. Readers will need to check credentials and ratings through other sites linked at Consumer Health Ratings. 800 top doctors reportedly named in more than 100 specialties, including pediatric subspecialties. However, beware, the list of physicians in the Doctor Directory may well include other doctors who have paid to advertise, and who are NOT top doctors. Those with the designation were selected by physicians with an advisory panel; online survey requested nominations from other doctors.

Blue Distinction Centers: Cardiac, Cancer, Hip, Knee, Fertility, Maternity, Back, Spine, Bariatric Surgery, Organ Transplants, Gene Therapy, Substance Abuse

The Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies have designated national Blue Distinction Centers meeting their standards and selection criteria for bariatric weight loss surgery, cancer care, cardiac (heart) care, fertility care, organ transplants (e.g. adult and pediatric bone marrow/stem cell, heart, kidney, liver); lung(adult only) transplants, total knee and hip replacement, maternity care, back spine surgery, Substance Use Treatment and Recovery (new in 2020), cellular immunotherapy, and gene therapy for ocular disorders (inherited blindness). Quality criteria can be found from the home page. In addition to Blue Distinction Centers, the Blue Distinction+ (Plus) designates high quality centers considered to have “more affordable care”. Dallas Best Doctors, 2022

The Dallas Best Doctors list for 2022 has just one name on it – an oncologist. However, the list of Best Doctors in Dallas for 2021 has as many specialties as you can think of. Dallas Fort Worth metro area, Texas. Of the 10,000 doctors listed in the directory, 1,383 may have received the Best Doctor designation. No mention of methodology for selection of the Best Doctors award. Be sure to use the Best Doctors filter, or you will get others who may have just advertised in this directory.

Minnesota Monthly Top Doctors 2021

Minnesota Monthly’s 2021 list of top doctors in Minnesota. As many as 75 specialties such as OB-GYN, Oncology (cancer care), Internal Medicine, Family Practice, General Surgery, Cardiology, Orthopedic Surgery, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Dermatology, Geriatrics, Pain Management, Pulmonary Care, Urology and more are included. Survey methodology is not disclosed, so it is unclear why the doctors were chosen. Database only. Very limited information.

New York’s Best Doctors – NYC Metro Area only – New York Magazine, 2022

Who are New York’s Best Doctors in the metro area in 2022? New York Magazine lists top physicians in over 60 different specialties, for the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Whether you’re looking for the best cancer specialist, the best eye doctor, a general surgeon for that gall bladder, a pediatric specialist (15 pediatric specialties) or a top psychiatrist, this list is one resource to identify the top few. Information is brief, such as training and hospital affiliations. Unfortunately board certification is no longer included. It would be wise to verify credentials before you decide. This list reflects a partnership between New York Magazine and Castle Connolly in asking doctors to nominate doctors.

Seattle Washington – seattlemag.com’s Top Doctors, 2022

Seattle Magazine selected best doctors for 2022 in the greater Seattle area, based on a Castle Connolly survey of physicians. Top physicians had primary offices in King, Kitsap, Pierce or Snohomish County. Extensive list of over 60 specialties including Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Cancer Specialties, Cardiology care, Dermatology, OB-GYN, Gastroenterology, Hand Surgery, Hospice Medicine, Maternal & Fetal Medicine, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Urology, Pain Medicine, about 15 Pediatric Specialties, Surgery and many more. Number of nominees in this year’s selection was not made public. Updated July 2022.

Wisconsin – Madison Magazine Top Doctors 2018

Madison Magazine asked Dane County physicians to name top doctors in 73 medical, pediatric and surgical disciplines that they would recommend to their family and friends. Generally, 3 to 6 physicians per specialty are listed; more than 200 in total. Such a list is reputation-oriented and based on personal experience, and does not necessarily reflect actual performance data. Number of respondents to survey is not shown. As with all Top and Best physician lists, you’ll want to check multiple sources. Updated May 2018 (biennial list). No updates in 2020, 2021, or as of Sept. 3, 2022.

Bariatric Surgery Centers of Excellence – Locate a Center & Bariatric Surgeon

Locate a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence or bariatric Surgeon of Excellence. Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) has designated 64 hospitals as Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Centers of Excellence. Minimum volume is 80 cases per year for a Center of Excellence. For a Bariatric Surgeon of Excellence, minimum volume is 50 cases per year, and 125 cases in a lifetime. SRC is a non-profit patient safety organization that develops and administers health care accreditation programs. In addition weight loss surgery, it promotes high standards for other types of surgery. List of centers by state; includes US, UK, Canada, Mexico and about 20 other countries.

Find WA clinic and health plan quality ratings reported at WACommunityCheckup.org. Compare care among nearly 2000 clinics in Washington state. See report called Improving Health Care in Washington State.  Scroll to Quality Composite Scores to see Medical Group or clinic rankings. Highest rated for 2022 were Virginia Mason, Kaiser Permanente Washington, University of Washington Medical Center, and Swedish Medical Group for Commercially insured patients. Evergreen Health Medical Group, MultiCare Rockwood, and Confluence Health Central were highest for Medicaid patients.
